Right now off the coast of California we are in serious, very serious, danger of losing all animals and all plants. And every time something like this happens there should not be a blind face turned to it and somebody come along and say there are two theories how these animals got stranded. For me this is no longer an answer, its no longer an answer of any kind. We have to get out there and get our hands bloody, we have to find out. We have to find out every time it happens from now on, out".

Background: Lime sprayed on waters off the Californian coast to kill sea urchin has been blamed for the death of 28 whales which became stranded on the coast of San Clemente island south of Los Angeles.

A spokesman for the Wildlife Protection Association who examined the dead whales blamed the lime. He said that it affected the whale's leader which lost its direction after taking in the lime and led the rest of the school ashore where they died.
