Background: Soviet Prezier Kruschev arrived at Babice, Warsaw, military airfield in an Ilyushin 18 airliner, July 14, for the start of a ten day State visit to Poland. Mr. Gomulka headed the Polish Government and Communist Party welcoming party.
After the usual formalities of inspecting the guard of honour and being greeted by Diplomatic Corps members, both Premiers addressed the 10,000-strong crowd. Mr Kruschev said that relations between Poland and Russia were not just the friendly relations of two States with common frontiers; they were matching together towards the same goal - Socialism and Communism - the building of the best and most just of social orders.
In a big open Zis car, Mr. Kruschev was driven from Babice to the capital. Along the route groups of Poles cheered and applauded him.
From Poland Mr. Kruschev will set out on his Scandinavian tour, accompanied by his wife and two daughters.
During his Police visit he will take part in the fifteenth anniversary celebration of the Polish Communist State, scheduled for July 22.
