CU Acting President of the African National Congress of South Africa, Mr. Oliver Tambo speaking in English in Lusaka
TAMBO: "We have contributed towards the unity of the people of Africa by ourselves the unity of the people of Southern Africa. We are part of the whole force that is changing the political and social, economic face of southern Africa, a contribution to Africa itself. I think if seen in isolation therefore it might be said that we are not achieving anything, but if we are seen as part of the wider army of people, from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Tanzania, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and the rest of Africa. If we are seen as part of this people who have been transforming Africa from a colonial possession to a large number of independent states, if we are part of that force and that process, we have made great strides."
