Background: A party of 160 American visitors to London - all members of the American Rolls-Royce Owners Club - drove from Battersea Park, London, to Bolney, Sussex, May 1, in vintage Rolls-Royce cars. They were on their way to a luncheon given by the Rolls-Royce company, at the home of Stanley Sears President of the "20-Ghost Club" composed entirely of Rolls-Royce "Silver Ghost" owners, manufactured between 1907 and 1925.

Leading the procession was a 1907 "Silver Ghost" (No.4) followed by "New Phantoms", "Phantoms" and "Wraiths, all driven by proud members of various Rolls-Royce Owner Clubs.

First to arrive at Bolney was a 1910 (No.2) "Silver Ghost". Soon the American Visitors were taking a good look at some of the vintage cars exhibited by Stanley Sears and the Rolls-Royce company."The showpiece of the exhibition was a 1905 model. Some of the cars were not taken out of their garages as it was raining too hard.
