CU 20ft Interview with coloured woman.

Transcript: Q "Now where are you from."

    A "Barbados".

Q "And how long have you been in this country."

    A "Seven years."

Q "So your pretty well established here."

    A "Yes I am."

Q "What's your view of this new white paper."

A "I can't tell you much about that really."

Q "Do you think it's a good thing that immigrants are limited to so small a number."

A "Yes it is I have always thought that, you people should build industry over there so that the coloured can get work."

Q "Your saying that if our people did enough in Barbados your people wouldn't want to come here in the first place."

    A "Yes."

Woman. "Well I think it would be alright if they limited the number coming into this country, because we are becoming overcrowded with them, and they really ought to find jobs before they come here, because there are too many that can't find jobs and too much many out of work."

Q "Well you work in this area don't you, in a shop."

    A "Yes."

Q "What's your view of them as customers."

A "Very good, they are always very pleasant, I have had no trouble with them and they are good customers and they know what they want, and they are very civil, but the overcrowding's terrible, and they have such bad conditions to live in isn't there."

Q "Is that their fault too."

A "No I wouldn't say it's their fault but there's to many coming in and new houses to live in, and the more overcrowded they become the more dirty their houses are, with too many children and that sort of thing."

CU Second interview with first coloured lady.

Q "Given the choice at the moment would you rather live here or in Barbados."

A "Back in my country, it's better there than here, the money is good over here but to live over there is better because it's not cold there, its very warm there, and your more happy over there than here."
