• Short Summary

Students of Makerere University, Kampala, have marched through the streets of Kampala in support of President Amin's decision to expel non-Ugandan Asians from Uganda.

  • Description

First part of the tape contains music provided by the Army Band during the procession; then a long pause; then a long pause; then part of the President's speech with sound camera. The clapping might not be very loud because we were close to the General but let me hope that it will be loud enough to serve the purpose. I could not get any guidance from Amin as he was too busy.

Film shows mr. Rippon arriving at Entebbe airport where he was met by the British High Commissioner in Uganda, mr. Richard Slater, officials of the High Commission, and officials of the Uganda Foreign Ministry, and a number of pressmen.

Roll no.2. shows the General arriving and addressing the students.

Roll no.1. shows the procession; students and other crowds at the City Square.
