Background: In a tourist park near Johannesburg, a young South African is staging a bizarre and dangerous stunt to raise money for a Christmas charity. He is spending more than 2 weeks in a swimming pool. Why is the stunt so deadly? The pool is full of alligators and crocodiles.

SYNOPSIS: 18 year old student donald Strydom doesn't particularly like reptiles. He just feels he needs to do his bit for charity. So at 9 o'clock each morning, he steps into the alligator enclosures at the Transvaal Snake Park to spend the next 9 hours with some of the most powerful reptiles on earth. Well known for their unpredictable and savage tempters, any of these animals could kill a man in seconds with one lash of their awesome jaws. Strydom says he's well aware of the dangers. But the young adventurer remains unconcerned, and his companions seem to be going along with the stunt, thankfully without complaint.

Strydom's venture has attracted much attention at the park, but it is by no means the first deadly sit-in-there. In May, another South African man sat his way into the record books by spending 60 days in a cage full of deadly snakes. Strydom's 16 day effort may seem mild in comparison. But unlike previous record breakers, he's not happy to leave well enough alone. Rather than quietly sitting out his say in the pool, Strydom is making sure his backers get their money's worth by entertaining startled onlookers with aquatic wrestling matches. And somehow, he has managed to avoid coming off second best.

Strydom's sit-in may not be a record breaker, but with donors sponsoring each hour he stays, it will raise a lot of money for charity. And Strydom insists that makes all the dangers worthwhile.
