Background: The Saudi Arabian Minister of Defence and Aviation, Prince Sultan Bin Abul Aziz Al-Saud, arrived in Qatar on Wednesday (21 March). The Prince is visiting three states in the Gulf region, the others being Oman and Bahrain.
The Prince and his eight-man delegation were welcomed by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and top Qatari ministers and officials. During the three-day visit, the Prince and the Emir were to hold talks on the relations between their countries, and the situation in the Gulf area.
SYNOPSIS: Qatar was among the states visited by the Saudi Arabian Defence Minister on his current tour of the Arabian Gulf. The minister, Prince Sultan Bin Abul Aziz Al-Saud, led an eight-man military delegation.
The Saudi Arabian representatives were also visiting Oman and Bahrain.
In Qatar they were welcomed by the Emir, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and his senior ministers and government officials. The Emir and the Saudi Prince discussed the relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. They also evaluated the situation in the Gulf area, in general. The Prince was to spend three days in Qatar before flying to Oman.
