Background: Italy were beaten by Brazil in the World Cup Soccer Final in Mexico - but in the streets of Rome emotional Italians still celebrated as for a victory.
Of course the Italian team crashed to a defeat by four goals to one, and for about 30 minute Rome was indeed like a ghost city.
But the mood seen changed. The party that had been planned for an Italian victory just had to take place.
Ultimately, the result was forgotten, and delirium took over the town. Thousands of fans poured in from the suburbs and the city centres came alive with cheering football fans.
The celebration overshadowed the one which followed Italy's semi-final triumph over West Germany.
