HEATH:"I very much doubt whether you will persuade them to adopt the Westminster Parliamentary system. (Laughter). On the other hand, they will not expect you to come back and convert us with a Gang of Four. So this is a perfectly good understanding that both sides have. We have completely different system, we accept that fact as a fact of life and it doesn't in any way exclude us from working together and influencing each together in many other spheres where it's very important. So, I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves, there's no point in wishing you to do that, and I think you will find it absolutely fascinating; and the terrible thing will be that when you get home you will want to go back there gain as soon as possible, and it probably won't be possible."

Background: A British soccer team, West Bromwich Albion, is to play three matches in China. On Friday (12 May) there was a civic reception for the team in London, just before their departure.

SYNOPSIS: For the West Browmwich Albion players, the official civic reception was a taste of things to come. They have been told to expect warm and constant hospitality in China. Mr.Chu Chi-yuan, the Chinese Charge d'Affaires in Britain, talked with Tony Godden, Tony Brown, Bryan Robson, Cyrille Regis and Brendan Batson.

22-year-old Tony Godden will be one of the youngest West Bromwich players on the tour. The Chinese Cup Final has been postponed for two days so the West Bromwich men can see it. That will be on May the 15th. They will play two matches in Peking and one in Shanghai, as well as visiting Hanchow and Canton.

Centre forward Cyrille Regis and his team-mates will be the first British soccer team to visit China since the Communist revolution. The last British team went there 40 years ago, and members of that team have said they believe West Bromwich Albion will have little to fear from their Chinese opponents. But there is little up-to-date information on what to expect from Chinese soccer. On other matters, however, there is more information, particularly about Chinese hospitality for official guests. Mr. Edward Heath, who was the first British Prime Minister to visit the People's Republic, gave some hints.

The West Bromich Albion team will be in China for two weeks.
