Background: The Chinese Foreign Minister Huang Hua has been visiting France for bilateral talks on East-West relations.
SYNOPSIS: The French Foreign Ministry headquarters in Paris was the venue for Mr. Huang's visit.
He arrived with a delegation of Chinese officials, for talks that were to last four hours.
He was greeted by French Foreign Minister Jean Francois-Poncet at the start of his four day visit. The meeting was described as "open and cordial" by French commentators.
Among the subject discussed, were the crisis in Afghanistan following Soviet intervention, and the situation in Southern Asia, with particular reference to Indochina. Questions relating to Korea were also brought up during the meeting.
Mr. Francois-Poncet will visit China in August to prepare an October visit there by French President Valery Giscard D'Eastaing.
