Background: Men's Volleyball...... and in the Spring Cup tournament being held in England last year's winners, France have established themselves as favourites for the title again this year. 17 countries have been attending the competition, which is regarded as the official West European Volleyball Championships. On Sunday France played Italy and the Italians put up a tougher fight than had been expected.
SYNOPSIS: After three sets the game was evenly poised. Italy were only one point down to France although the French were ahead by two sets to one. Italy, playing from right to left in the white shirts, were playing confidently, but on this occasion they pushed the ball deep to give France the service.
The French had a chance to increase their slender lead, but Italy came back with a powerful spike to regain service.
The Italians have been rated highly and were keen to do well against the current champions.

The tournament has been split into four sections and the top two teams from each section will go on the finals at Nottingham over the Easter Weekend (March 23-26).
The experienced French team showed greater ability over their Italian opponents and went on to win this point in style.
