MCU Alan Jones and interviewer.
CU Alan Jones speaking.
TRANSCRIPT: JONES: (SEQ 1): "I made up my mind Thursday morning, yesterday morning."
Interviewer: "And how long have you been thinking about it?"
Jones: "Since last January...I never actually signed with Frank, I agreed verbally financial terms and at that stage i had every intention of continuing, but the best way I can explain it to you, I can remember sitting cross-legged on my bed on the farm last January, wondering how the hell I could give Frank back his money and stay there. I decided I couldn't afford to, so I came back and did this year. Yesterday morning I woke up and really gave it some serious thought, and decided that Australia is where I rally want to be at the moment and I can't do that and go formula one racing, so I gave formula one way."
"Very demanding, very tiring, 16 grand prix in a year, that's not counting the tyre testing we did for Goodyear between every race...I feel as though I've had a good run, I've been very lucky and I owe the sport a lot. I want to get out while I've got the respect of everybody...I have no intention whatsoever of coming back to formula one. My future is as a happy citizen of Australia."
