Background: Eight of the 170 prisoners in the Equatoria provincial jail in Juba are awaiting execution. Some are reported to be rebels, but authorities would neither confirm nor deny. Some ANYANYA are there but they kept apart from rest & we could not get near. Policy of prisoner toughest in South is to train prisoners for a trade. They're all long term prisoners. They're trained to make furniture & souvenires sold all over country. When they leave they are given tools & money to start business in workshops. Cool, but outside temperature reaches over one hundred in the open.
