Background: On the face of the Finance Minister, Mr.Stanley de Zoysa's admission that a person connected with the assassination of the Prime Minister was his (Mr. De Zoysa's) friend, the big question of the day was the propriety of his continuing in office. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet was held to discuss primarily this matter. At this meeting which was held in close session, it was decided not to press for the immediate removal of the Finance Minister while he was representing Ceylon at Canberra. He is due back on Nov. 16. It was also decided that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sidney de Zoysa (brother of the Finance Minister) should be kept clear of the investigations.
