Background: Constellation, the U.S. America's Cup Defender, slid across the finish line 15 minutes and 40 seconds ahead of Sovereign her British rival, to win her fourth straight race in the best four-our-of-seven series marking the nineteenth Challenge for the America's Cup.
The final outcome was never in doubt after Constellation won the second race (held Thursday, 17 September) by more than 20 minutes. Monday (21 September) was about the same way, with Constellation going like an express train on the windward legs.
The Cup thus remains in the United States where it has been for 113 years since the schooner yacht America won it in Great Britain in 1851.
