Background: A barge being loaded with 80-thousand gallons of oil exploded twice on Wednesday (25 October) at Carteret, New Jersey, just off New York harbour.
Flames damaged a building and a pier on the New Jersey waterfront, then spread to Staten Island, damaging a generator and a utility pumping station.
Finally, the barge - described as longer than an American football field - drifted into New York harbour and sank.
There were no serious injuries.
