    Background: The man that heads Bolivia's new military junta, General Luis Garcia Meza, has urged his people to work constructively for the future of their country. He made the statement in the face of American-led boycott on economic aid and increasing worker resistance against the new leadership.

    SYNOPSIS: General took over the palace at La Paz last month when he seized power in a military coup. He has said his takeover was dictated by the need to put an end to Communist subversion. Last week (6 August) General Garcia hit out at foreign opposition to his leadership: He said that his junta wanted to make what he called "a clear rejection of international extremism and imperialist predators." He said the change in Bolivia was inspired by the "richest fountains of humanism." The junta leader invited the people of Bolivia to participated in what he called "a great crusade of national reconstruction." General Garcia said that all Bolivians must work hard and find permanent peace and harmonious development.
