    Background: Forest fighters come out of hiding.

    About 5-hundred of them from NAROK, the ABERDARES and Mount Kenya today took the first step towards a return to normal life.

    A number of forest fighters travelled to the RURINGU Stadium at Nyeri to hand in their arms and ammunition under the terms of the amnesty announced by the Government.

    At a meeting organised by the Member for the Aberdares, Mr. KARIUKI, resolutions were passed condemning secret societies and oathing, and urging the Government to take care of those who suffered during the Emergency. The government was also asked to make arrangements about providing land for the forest fighters.
