Background: The head United States delegates to the International Conference on Human Rights, Mr. Roy Wilkins, told conference delegates in Teheran on Wednesday that he foresaw a glittering future for all the people of the United States, regardless of race or religion.

Mr. Wilkins said various events in recent American history - the murder of Medgar Evers, the protests of the late Martin Luther King (also murdered) and police brutality against Negroes - had served to destroy apathy and wake the American conscience to the evils of racial discrimination.

The conference is being attended by Princess Ashraf, who is presiding over the discussions.

Mr. Wilkins, continuing in his remarks about racial discrimination in America, said a full anoply of economic and social rights were being implemented. The youth of America was also helping to expand the vision of an integrated society.
