TRANSCRIPT: ANDY MAMILLAN: Tom Weiskopf took the second round lead from Rik Massengale in the Westchester Golf Classic in the United States on Friday. Massengale faltered badly after getting off to a strong start. Here's report on action in the second round by Andy MacMillan.
Weiskopf admits to being a streaky golfer and he was in one today. Even when his drives were off the mark he kept his sometimes terrible temper under control to save pars. He finished the morning round typically with a neat safe chip, having picked up three strokes on first round leader Massengale before Rik was out of the box.
Gene Littler was among the well-known ea???ing away from the pack. He stayed within shooting distance ... an eight under one-thirty-six.
And Hale Irwin, who can pass Jack Nicklaus on the money list with a second place or better finish. Irwin crashed out a spectacular thirty-one in the morning. His two-day total, one-thirty-seven, eight strokes back of Weiskopf.
Just to show you it doesn't always go as planned, even for the pro, watch Gay Brewer take a quadruple boogie on Westchester's two hundred yard sixteenth.
Massengale didn't get started till afternoon and his reputation as a practice round rabbit continued. The first round leader is now ten strokes back. He and the others will have some tall chasing to do in the next two days.
Weiskopf, holing out here with an Eagle-Three, is wall on his way to his third major win of the season.

Weiskopf has been described as a golfer who runs in streaks -- either very good or very bad. In the Westchester tournament he seems to be managing to control his sometimes hot temper and is recovering even after making bad shots to at least keep a par.
