Background: Several thousand people demonstrated through the streets of Beirut yesterday (Wednesday) in support of El Fatah and the Palestinian guerrillas - and against the Jordanian Government of King Hussein.

The two main groups were Nasserites and the Jumblat Left Wingers - followed by lesser groups and by women and children.

Many of the demonstrators were carrying arms - which was not expected since the Lebanese Government has banned the carrying of arms in the cities except by official forces.

The demonstrators shouted slogans and carried banners attacking "Imperialism", the Jordan "Puppet" regime and "Conspiracies to liquidate the Palestine resistance movement."
