Background: CIVIL RIGHTS MARCHERS IN MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) CALLED ON SCHOOL CHILDREN TO BOYCOTT THEIR CLASSES AND JOIN THEM IN A MARCH TO CITY HALL.

ON MONDAY, AT LEAST 1,000 MARCHERS ATTENDED A CHURCH RALLY WHERE THEY WERE ADDRESSED BY A ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST, FATHER JAMES GROPPI AND COMEDIAN DICK GREGORY. THEN THEY MARCHED INTO A WEALTHY NEIGHBOURHOOD ON THE CITY'S EAST SIDE, PAST THE HOME OF COUNTY JUDGE CHRIST SERAPHIM, WHO PRESIDED OVER MOST OF THE CASES OF THE 250 PERSONS ARRESTED DURING LAST WEEK'S DEMONSTRATIONS. JUDGE SERAPHIM, WHO WAVED TO THE MARCHERS AS THEY WALKED IN FRONT OF HIS HOME, SAID, "THEY CAN'T SCARE THIS POOR, LITTLE GREEK BOY."
THE MARCHES, WHICH BEGAN SATURDAY, HAVE COVERED DOZENS OF MILES IN WHAT HAS AMOUNTED TO A CONTINUOUS PROTEST AGAINST HOUSING CONDITIONS AND POLICE ACTION AGAINST THE DEMONSTRATIONS LAST WEEK. LEADERS SAY THE MARCHES WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MILWAUKEE ADOPTS A FAIR HOUSING ORDINANCE AND THE CHARGES AGAINST THE ARRESTED DEMONSTRATORS ARE DISMISSED.
