General Sandoval aged 40, and father of three was abducted early in the morning of October 27. The Govt. has offered a reward of 1 million secres (40 thousand dollars) for information leading to his return.
Newspaper editors and heads of radio and television stations being addressed by a cabinet minister, Hector Espinel Chiriboga. He appealed to them to help to prevent further incidents of this nature.

Minutes later the President, Dr. Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra, declared martial law and a dusk to dawn curfew.
The kidnapping took place on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Equador Airforce. All celebrations were suspended.
