Background: Re-called to Tunis following the French Air Attack on the Tunis-Algerian border will age of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, the Tunisian Ambassador to France left Orly Airport, Pais, in a Tunis Airliner.
The incident that led to his re-call was the bombing of the village during which 75 people - including many women and children - were killed and a further 83 wounded.
M.Masmoudi left Paris after making a sharp protest to the French Foreign Minister.
In a broadcast just before he left, M.Masmoudi said that it would be difficult for the Tunisian Government to ensure the safety of the 120,000 French soldiers and civilians in Tunisia.
Since then, all French military camps in the Tunis have been surrounded by Tunisian soldiers, all telephone and telegraph communications between the French General Headquarters and the various bases and camps have been out, and all the main roads have been barricaded.
