Background: President Sangoule Lamizana presided over the opening day of Upper Volta's third ambassador conference, which took place in Ouagadougou on Monday (26 April).
In his opening address President Lamizana said that the conference had been called in order that the participants could contribute towards a reappraisal of Upper Volta's situation in world affairs.
Upper Volta's Foreign Minister, Professor Alred Kabore, was also present at the meeting, which took place at the National Assembly building - now the headquarters of the Consultative Council for Renewal (C.C.N.R.) - which replaced the National Assembly in 1974.
Other ministers and members of the government also participated in the conference, together with Upper Volta's ambassadors to the 57 countries with whom diplomatic relations are maintained.
