Background: In cairo, the People's Council is due to begin its new session tomorrow (Thursday, II November) following the recent elections to 338 of its 360 seats. President Anwar Sadat, who called the elections as part of his reform programme, is due to make the opening speech.

In preparation for the new session, the buildings which house the People's Council have been given an extensive facelift. When this film was shot on Tuesday (9 November), scaffolding still covered part of the exterior, and inside decorators and carpenters were hard at work painting walls and ceilings and refitting doors and windows.
