Background: Student and youth leaders of East Pakistan who led from Dacca during the fighting are now regrouping to give renewed support for the independence movement in East Pakistan. It was the student and youth movement which spearheaded the moves for independence in East Pakistan.
At a meeting in Benapole Village on Tuesday (13 April) student and youth leaders finalised an appeal that they intend issuing to the world. They have condemned the West Pakistan Government for "barbaric and colossal acts" and for "the treachery of Yahya Khan and the attacks of genocide taking place in Bangla Desh" and called on the youth of East Pakistan to continue its struggle for independence. The Student and youth leaders also appealed for aid from world youth organisations.
