    Background: President Anwar Sadat's Middle East peace initiatives, and the issuing of formal invitations to preparatory talks in Cairo to set up another Geneva peace conference, continue to attract strong reactions. One of the essential ingredients in the talks will be the fate of the West Bank, but it appears that could be a stumbling block for the mayors of the major West Bank towns can not even agree on whether they wish to go to Cairo.

    SYNOPSIS: The Mayor of Jericho, Abdul Azziz Zuite, is considered to be a left winger and extremist supporter of the PLO
    In contrast, the Mayor of Bethlehem, Mayor Elias Freij is known as a moderate.

    But the Mayor of Nazareth, Dr. Sami Jourisi, and one of the three Arab members of Knessit Saif Adin Zouabi support the conference.

    Finally, Mayor Kowasme of Hebron, supporter of the PLO.
