Background: The Argentinian Economics Minister, Doctor Krieger Vasena, today (Monday) had a meeting with the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Callaghan at the Treasury in London.
Doctor Vasena is on a three-week tour of Europe which will take him to six countries.
Doctor Vasena's tour is aimed at promoting trade and foreign investment in Argentina. Doctor Vasena has been pointing out to prospective investors and customers that Argentina's exports are worth 2,000-million U.S. dollars each year.
The doctor is a familiar figure in European economic circles, having led the Argentine delegation at the Kennedy Round talks of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade at Geneva until January this year.
During his meeting today with Mr Callaghan, Doctor Vasena presented the British Chancellor of the Exchequer with some pieces of 18th century silver.
