Background: The man - and scientific and technical progress is the theme of a three day 'Table Ronde internationale des savants et prix Nobel' held in the grand conference hall of Unesco in Paris 19-21 November.

Those present included Lord Boyd Orr of Britain, Castom Berger of France, Nikolai Semenov of Russia, Homi Johangir Bhabba of India, Albert Moyes of USA, Bernardo Houssay of Argentina, and Daniel Sovet of Italy.
