Background: M. Paul Spaak, NATO Secretary-General, flew into Bonn, West Germany for 24-hours of talks with West German Foreign Minister Heinrich von Brentano, No. 6.
The agenda was said to include general discussion on NATO co-operation problems and the international situation.
M. Spaak had flown from London where he had talks with NATO officers on NATO finance. It is thought fiscal matters were also discussed with Herr von Brentano. America's announcement that drain on her gold reserves would entail financial cuts is believed to have caused the richer NATO members to reconsider their appropriations.
