    NAPALKOV, A 20-YEAR-OLD STUDENT FROM GORJI, OUTJUMPED THE WORLD'S BEST SKI-JUMPERS WITH LEAPS OF 87 AND 91 METRES TO RECORD THE DAY'S BEST POINT SCORE OF 222.5.

    SECOND IN THE DAY'S EVENT WAS THE FAVOURITE FOR THE OVERALL TITLE, BJORN WIRKOLA OF NORWAY. THE NORWEGIAN MADE TWO JUMPS OF 87 METRES IN GUSTY WINDS WHICH SENT SEVERAL OTHER COMPETITORS TUMBLING. WIRKOLA RECORDER 220.9 POINTS.

    THIRD IN THE EVENT WAS CZECHOSLOVAKIA'S JIRI RASKA WHO DID LEAPS OF 87 AND 86 METRES, GIVING HIM A POINTS TOTAL OF 215.5 POINTS.

    HOWEVER, THE RESULT LEFT WIRKOLA STILL AHEAD AFTER THREE DAYS OF SKI-JUMPING, AND HE REMAINS FAVOURITE TO WIN THE EVENT.
