Background: Back in the Middle East after his extended tour of Europe, King Saud of Saudi Arabia breaks his journey home in Beirut, Lebanon, to renew acquaintance with Lebanese President Chamoun.
His first official engagement is to attend a reception in connection with the opening of the Zahranni Pipeline, an important new link in the oil distribution network in the Middle East.
While on the site of the pipeline King Saud is introduced by the President to the trustee of Saida, and he also listens to hymns of praise sung first in Seoudiene and then in Lebanese.
King Saud reviews the military and then proceeds to the reception salon.
Later King Saud went with President Chamoun to a show of Arab horses at Tall Amara. He was accompanied as usual with a large retinue.
The spectacle drew a huge crowd and the horsemen going through their exercises certainly made a show which only arab horses can.
At the close of the show the King presented each competitor with a piece of gold and distributed cups to the winners of the various events.
