Background: Iranian students and other members of a group calling itself the Iranian National Front in Exile picketed the White House Saturday, 26 January. The action followed a sitdown in the Iranian embassy last week. Both actions were part of a protest against the Iranian referendum in which the Shah proposed a 6 point domestic reform program. The referendum brought out a vote of 2-million for the Shah's program with only 2-thousand votes opposing.
Under the program large estates would be broken up and land given to the peasants.Other changes would institute government and worker profit sharing in factories. The plan has been bitterly opposed by land owners and business men.
The picketing group in the film are followers of former Iranian premier Mohammed Mossadegh who is being held in house arrest. The pickets are demanding his release and call the referendum undemocratic, unconstitutional and the results a hoax.
