Background: A new world record has been set in an unusual sport which involves driving a rocket-powered car off a ramp at high speed. The record was broken on August 29 at the Cayuga International Speedway Circuit on Ontario, Canada. Aided by team-mates, including rocket-fuel expert Larry Flushingham, the driver carried out last-minute fuel checks before his record-breaking attempt. Satisfied that the rocket-fuelled car was ready for lift-off, Ken Carter set off at a speed-fuelled 136 kilometres (85 miles) per hour. he cleared the ramps successfully and broke the world record achieving a distance of 56 metres (186 feet).
