Background: Stirling Moss, the British racing ace, on the road to recovery after his 140 mph. crash, met the press at his London hospital July 14. He posed for pictures on the balcony of his private ward, tapped his mending legs and pledged to race again.
He will leave the hospital July 16 to open the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and return to the hospital afterwards for further convalescence.
Moss, third in the Grand Prix world championship table, injured his spine, broke legs, ribs and teeth, in a crash during lap practice on the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix at Francorchamps June 18.
