Background: One of the most unique mothers in the world is to be found in New Delhi. Her name is Rani, she is 12 years old and is already the mother of 16.
She is a white tigress, one of the rarest animals in the world. She has just given birth to two cubs which were shown to newsmen this week for the first time.
New Delhi's Zoo, which is Rani's home, is the only place in the world where white tigers are bred. Rani's newest-and sixth-litter are three months old, but have been kept away from the public until now to ensure undisturbed weaning.
Two of Rani's earlier cubs were presented to zoos in Washington and Bristol, England, while a third is on display at Expo 70 in Japan.
