    Background: THE IVORY COAST AND BULGARIA HAVE SIGNED A TRADE AGREEMENT. IT PROVIDES FOR THE ANNUAL EXCHANGE OF GOODS TO A VALUE OF 500 MILLION CFA FRANCS (GBP830,000 STERLING).

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED IN THE EVENING AT THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMICS. THE IVORY COAST FINANCE MINISTER, M. KONAN BEDIE, SIGNED ON BEHALF OF HIS COUNTRY. MR. JORDAN ANASTASSOV, THE DIRECTOR FOR FOREIGN TRADE, SIGNED ON BEHALF OF BULGARIA.

    IT IS AN IMPORTANT AGREEMENT THAT WILL COME INTO EFFECT AS SOON AS IT BEEN RATIFIED BY THE RESPECTIVE PARLIAMENTS.

    THE IVORY COAST IMPORTS HEAVY MACHINERY, MACHINE TOOLS, LORRIES, MOTOR CYCLES, AND A VARIETY OF ELECTRICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL EQUIPMENT FROM BULGARIA.

    BULGARIA RECEIVES IN RETURN A NUMBER IF AGRICULTURAL ITEMS, PARTICULARLY COFFEE, COCOA, WOOD, FRUIT, AND PALM OIL.
