Background: Frank Sinatra, a 49-year-old American film star, and Miss Mia Farrow, a 19-year-old television actress, arrived at Martha's Vineyard this week aboard the yacht Southern Breeze.On Thursday (5 August) Mr.Sinatra remained in seclusion aboard the vessel but Miss Farrow came ashore at Edgartown and did some shopping.She was followed by a fair sized crowd of reporters, photographers, spectators and a body guard (wears cap, cardigan in film).

Mr.Sinatra and Miss Farrow have been reported engaged and there was widespread speculation throughout the resort island that they might perform the marriage ceremony there.The couple went aboard the yacht earlier this week, accompanied by film stars Rosalind Russell, Claudette Colbert, Merle Oberon and their respective husbands.All are contemporaries of Mr.Sinatra's.Miss Colbert and Miss Russell (in hat) came ashore with Miss Farrow on Thursday to visit friends on the island.

Miss Farrow plays the part of a blonde schoolgirl on a popular television series called Peyton Place.The producers of the series have arranged for the character she plays to fall into a deep coma and thus remain off-screen during episodes now being filmed.If Miss Farrow's vacation does indeed end in marriage, the character she plays will simply die and she will be free of her commitment to the program.

Meanwhile, although the rumour mills continue to grind, the balding actor and the long-haired young beauty remain officially (according to a spokesman) "on vacation".
