Background: INTRODUCTION Recently there's been a greater influx of tourists than usual into the town of Bogor on the Indonesian island of Java. The main attraction's been a single flower - the biggest in the world.

SYNPOSIS: Its botanical name is Amorphorphallus Titanum, but its commonly called the Corpse Flower... because it allegedly smells like rotting flesh. It blooms only once in three years. When it does it takes three days to blossom and then gradually withers over a period of 15 days. One of the best collections of the species is to be found in the Bogor Botanical gardens which become a hive of activity when the Corpse decides to come to life.

It normally grows in the jungles of the neighbouring island of Sumatra, and if there's a prolonged rainy season can grow as high as eight and half feet (about 2.75 metres) because its been a dry season. But its still a spectacular show and always creates tremendous interest.
