Background: Tennis - and in the United States Open Championships at Forest Hills in New York, Bjorn Borg and Chrissie Evert predictably got through Sunday's (September 4) third-round play. But, in the surprise result of the day, fourteen-year-old Tracy Austin beat Britain's Sue Barker.

SYNOPSIS: Receiving the serve, last year's Wimbledon champion. Bjorn Borg of Sweden, took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the relatively unknown Onny Parun of New Zealand.

Match point -- and Borg is on his way to the fourth round.

America's Chrissie Evert, the number one women's seed, serving her way to a 6-1, 6-2 straight set victory over Helena Anliot of Sweden.

The partisan home crowd were again delighted to see one of their own defeat fourth-seeded Sue Barker. Tiny teenager Tracy Austin made up for her lack of strength with some very skilful tennis. She proved that her good showing in this year's Wimbledon Championships in England was no fluke, by defeating her bigger and more experienced opponent in two sets - 6-1, 6-4.
