Background: Scarlet O'Hara, a champion red setter, has a family to be proud of - recently she gave birth to 12 puppies, her first and the largest litter of the breed in the world.

Her mistress, Mrs. Rose Granville of Harwoods Road, Watford, near London, was astonished to be presented with such a big litter - and amazed when all twelve survived. But experts say that all the bouncing babies are potential champions. Names of the pedigree pups: Sabrina, Flame, Bruce, Flush, Rusty, Amber, Honey, Sunset, Cuddles, Rhett, Rebel and Ruby. And their owner can tell them all apart.

Scarlet is two and a half years old and the father of this champion of litters is an American international champion of New Jersey, Mass. USA.

Feeding the family is a big job: each pup costs GBP1 10s. a week in food. Twelve pints of milk and 12 lbs of meat are delivered daily to the kennels.
