Background: China once again showed its superiority by beating South Korea 3-0 on November 5 - the second day of the World Super Women's Volleyball Tournament in Hong Kong. The Chinese team, which took the gold medal at this year's Los Angeles Olympics, scored an easy 15-7, 15-4, 15-5 victory over its opponents. China appeared to be in total command throughout the match and had little difficulty in breaking the weak links in the South Korean defence. In an earlier match, the United States put up a poor performance against the Japanese team. The Americans were crushed 1-15, 0-15, 5-15 for their second successive defeat in the four-nation tournament. China looks almost certain to win the championships as it only has to beat the inexperienced American side to claim victory in the series.
