Background: Apollo 14 and its three-man crew made a bullseye landing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday. On a brilliant, sunny day the historic moment when the space-craft appeared in the sky suspended by three large parachutes was witnessed by countless millions. Television cameras on board the USS Aircraft Carrier New Orleans and in the helicopters which hovered in the splashdown zone, recorded the exciting scene and relayed it via a series of communication satellites and ground station to viewers around the world. The entire closing chapter of this space spectacular was beamed half way round the world to the Visnews high definition telerecording suite. An edited version with sound track recalls the return to earth of Apollo 14 and its crew, Alan Shepard, Ed Mitchell and Stuart Roosa.
