Background: Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew met the West German Chancellor Willy Brandt in Bonn on Monday, at the beginning of a week's visit to West Germany during his current European tour.

The two men had informal talks over lunch at the Chancellery, in what was Mr. Lee's first engagement in West Germany.

During his stay in West Germany, Mr. Lee was to have talks with the West German President and Foreign Minister.

He was also due to visit West Berlin, and the famous Rollei photographic firm in Brunswick.
