Background: In pursuance of the Security council resolution, Indian combat troops offered by the Indian government are now ready for their assignment in and departure for the Congo. Three thousand troops accompanied by 1500 ancillary men are expected to proceed to Congo from 14th onwards. These men have on them perhaps the most difficult assignment combined as their duties are with the politics of the "cold war world". The troops looked happy and prepared as they fuled past for weighment. Most of them rested in the vast camp at the Delhi cantonment.
