    Background: The structure of the All-Africa Trade Unions Federation is to be reconsidered in the light of economic evolution in Africa, it was revealed at the Federation's Fourth Congress in Cairo on Thursday (January 21).

    The fundamental principle of the Federation's organisation should be Trade Union democracy, the delegates were told. The decision to reorganise the body was taken by the Federation's Executive Secretariat meeting in Conakry, Guinea, in August last year (1970).

    At the Congress, which last met in Dar es Salam in 1968, were representative of 60 trade union organisation. Of these, 20 were from African countries, and rest observers.The Federation, formed in 1961, has about seven and a half million Africans on its membership list.
