SYNOPSIS: In the first of the quarter-finals, played Tuesday (1 June) Connors beat Chilean Hans Gildmeister in three straight sets. Here, Connors rounds off his most convincing win in the championships.
Bjorn Borg, still two days short of his 24th birthday, also scored a straight-sets win over Italian Corrado Baruzzutti. The mighty Borg, seen here winning the third set, has dropped only 27 games in five matches in reaching the semi-finals.
The game between Harold Solomon, seen serving, and Argentinean Guillermo Vilas, provided the only upset of the quarter-finals. Solomon, seeded sixth, won a four-set battle with the number four seeded Guillermo.
