Background: SYNOPSIS: One of the most famous cricket grounds in the world, the Oval in London, was taken over on Sunday by two visiting Australian Rules football teams who are on an exhibition tour.

Guest of honour was Prince Charles who's no newcomer to Australian Rules: he saw the game played when he was at school in Australia.

The majority of the crowd consisted of Australians, many fuelled by cans of lager which they consumed in profuse quantities throughout the chilly afternoon.

Here's a goal from David Clark of the All Stars. For the benefit of the few non-Australians in the crows, a commentator explained over a loudspeaker that different aspects of the game which was described as a combination of rugby, basketball, judo and soccer.

Most of the spectators were from the southern states of Australia where the code is the main winter game. Although it was only an exhibition match, the umpire got his usual barrage of abuse from the crowd. All the same, everyone had plenty to cheer about - particularly the players whose trip, at the end of an exhausting Australian season, also takes them to Athens and Singapore.
